CLASS OF 2026 HALL OF FAME NOMINATIONS

 

Delaware State University is currently inviting nominations for its 2026 Athletics Hall of Fame class. Eligible candidates include former Hornet student-athletes who graduated or fulfilled their eligibility before 2021, having participated in at least two years of one or more sports. Nominations are also welcome for former Delaware State University coaches, administrators and supporters of the University's athletics program. The deadline for nominations is Friday, May 22.

FREE RAPID SICKLE CELL TRAIT SCREENINGS | APRIL 16

 

Join TOVA Community Health and Dr. Acheamfour on Thursday, April 16, from 3 to 4:15 p.m. in Room 139 of the Mishoe Science Center for free rapid sickle cell trait screenings.

Learn about sickle cell disease and trait status while earning culture credits. This event is hosted in partnership with the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology.

DELAWARE SHIP COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS | APRIL 21

 

Join a Delaware SHIP Community Conversation on Tuesday, April 21, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Student Center. A virtual option via Zoom is also available.

Students living in Kent County are invited to share ideas, raise concerns and be part of the conversation on building a healthier Delaware.

The event will include interactive feedback activities, resource tables with helpful information and handouts, a kids’ activity area, door prizes and giveaways, and free snacks and beverages.

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN LEADERSHIP STUDIES INFORMATION SESSION | APRIL 22 AND APRIL 27

SGAES DISSERTATION BOOT CAMP | APRIL 16 AND 21

 

Join the SGAES Dissertation Boot Camp virtual series on Thursday, April 16, or Tuesday, April 21, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

This series focuses on helping graduate students organize research, strengthen academic writing and master APA formatting. It is designed for those working on dissertations, research papers, manuscripts and scholarly projects.

Join the Writing Studio for a workshop on Logical Fallacies in Academic Writing with Dr. Sandra Sokowski.

The in-person session will take place on Wednesday, April 22, from 11 to 11:50 a.m. in the William C. Jason Library, Room 205.

Finish strong and don’t do it alone. Attend workshops and tutoring sessions to learn strategies to prepare, stay focused and push through the final stretch of the semester.

SPRING 2026 CREST SEMINAR SERIES | APRIL 23

 

Join the CREST Seminar Series on Thursday, April 23, at 11 a.m. in the OSCAR Building, 1st Floor Seminar Room.

The seminar, “Designing better drugs with physics: Using molecular dynamics simulations to target Hepatitis B Virus,” will be presented by Prof. James C. Gumbart, PhD, of the Georgia Institute of Technology.

ATHLETICS

 

Softball
The Delaware State Hornets broke through after a 0-0 tie in the fifth inning to defeat the North Carolina Central Eagles 3-1 on Sunday. Junior Kristin White got the win for the Hornets, going seven innings, giving up one run on seven hits, allowing one walk and striking out six.

Men's and Women's Outdoor Track

On Thursday and Friday, the Delaware State Men's and Women's track and field program closed out their two-day meet, securing consecutive first-place finishes and new rankings at the University of Delaware Invitational.

Baseball
Michael Lane dominated on Friday, fanning 11 Maryland-Eastern Shore hitters over 6.2 innings of work to help lead the Delaware State Hornets over the Hawks 5-4.
